"At Aydin Coins & Jewelry we carry the popular Aydin Reverse Design. This design is available in both the regular bullion and the platinum commemorative coin, both of which are beautiful additions to any portfolio. You can add this great upgrade to your collection by purchasing the original Aydin reverse design along with the coins. The reverse of the design features the engraving of Lady Liberty's profile on the reverse with the American eagle's in the center circle.

"The regular bullion coins have a mintage of five thousand. The bullion is manufactured in the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America. The bullion, as its name suggests, is manufactured in these areas for circulation in these regions. The reverse side of the coin has a reverse image of lady Liberty on a gold plating background.

"The platinum commemorative coins are manufactured exclusively at the minting plant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The designs are being produced in extremely limited quantities. There is an increase in demand for these coins from collectors worldwide. The increase in mining activity was initiated by increasing awareness of the value that these coins hold for both collectors and investors worldwide. The increased mintage of the platinum coins has also been assisted by the discovery of the American Eagle coin in a host of locations overseas.

"The proof bullion issues are mintage limited to two million pieces. The bullion was not minted for circulation. It was initially reserved for collection. The reverse of the coin has a portrait of Liberty standing on a shield with the American eagle in the center. These coins have never been used as money.

John Mercanti

In 1974, John Mercanti began his work at the US Mint as an assistant sculptor and engraver. In 1985, an open competition was held by the Commission of the Fine Arts.  The winner would design the reverse side of the new 1986 American Silver Eagle.  John Mercanti won the contest and designed the beloved Heraldic Eagle found on the reverse side of the coveted American Silver Eagle.  The majestic design features its wings spread while holding arrows and an olive branch in each talon with the 13 stars.  The text "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER ~ ONE DOLLAR" appear along the rim. The national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" appears on a banner held in the eagle's beak.

Mercanti was appointed as the 12th US Mint Chief Engraver and became the most famous US coin engraver ever. It is no wonder why his autograph is the desirable one to collect. A Mercanti signed label increases the value of the coin substantially. While Mercanti lent his signature to both PCGS and NGC grading services. In 2015, he signed an agreement so that his signature would be exclusively used by NGC.
